HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 1, 2025 – Talcott Financial Group (“Talcott”), an international life insurance group and leading provider of comprehensive risk solutions, has completed its previously announced block reinsurance transaction between its subsidiary, Talcott Resolution Life Insurance Company (“Talcott Resolution”), and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (“MetLife”).
Under the terms of the agreement, Talcott Resolution reinsured approximately $10 billion in variable annuity and rider reserves, with the transaction structured on both a modified coinsurance and funds withheld basis. MetLife will continue to administer and service the policies. Additionally, MetLife Investment Management will manage approximately $6 billion of assets under investment management agreements with Talcott.
This transaction was first announced in April and brings Talcott’s total reinsured reserves in 2025 to $14 billion. The closing of this transaction further advances Talcott’s position as a trusted partner to carriers across the industry for comprehensive risk management solutions.
